You may now edit antenna type, direction, and polarization parameters on the metadata panel of the View/ Data File Info window. http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_28.exe . __________________________________________________________ Lastest update for March 04, 2017 By popular demand I have added the Local Name to the spd file names. Example UT170304123400_BIRO.spd Please let me know if this causes a problem for you. I can make it optional if needed. There is a new feature: File / Load File As Sidereal Use this to load a UT file and display it using sidereal timestamps. You can then save the file as a sidereal file. This may be helpful during the upcoming eclipse. I have added some metadata fields for the Radio Jove antenna parameters. These include: Antenna Type Antenna Azimuth Antenna Elevation Antenna Polarization 1 Antenna Polarization 2 The fields conform those in Radio-Sky Spectrograph and are important if you are submitting Radio Jove data for archive submission. To set these values go to Options / Misc / Radio Jove Metadata. Worked on problem where the first sample from the sound card caused a large spike at the first data point. This seems to be a problem in the sound buffer. Go to Options /Logging and enter a value for "Do not log the first X samples". I added this feature a while back but I don't believe it was functioning properly. It now seems to work well. If you enter zero then no samples are ignored. http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_20.exe There is currently a problem with the Event Submitter for Radio Jove. Will fix ASAP. ____________________________________________________________ Lastest update for December 05, 2016 This update fixes a bug that caused a 450 error and crash when clicking Save Image Now. http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_15.exe ____________________________________________________________ Lastest update for November 28, 2016 This update fixes a issue where the chart stops working when returning from the Options window. During the return to the main program, the sound card would quit taking data for a observation in progress. This update adds a feature allowing you to discard the first X samples after a chart is started. This may be helpful if you find your early samples spiking as may happen when the sound card hardware buffers are not initialized to 0. Go to Options/ Logging and put the number of samples to skip in the box "Do not log the first X samples." Leave this value at zero to log all samples. http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_13.exe ______________________________________________________________ Update for Feb. 17, 2016 This update fixes a problem with the event counter that caused a miscount in the first bin. This version removes references to the Dataq OCX which may have troubled earlier versions. SNTP Clock now checks to see if a copy is already running thus preventing multiple copies from running. http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_10.exe ______________________________________________________________ Newest Update as of October 29, 2015 Update (recommended for versions other than 2.6.5): http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_6.exe New defaults for Y scaling. Fixed bug in SNTPclient.exe that prevented it from auto-updating the system clock. From 2.7.4 Keeps the program from prompting when the sound card expected is not detected. The message of the error now goes to the Session log. Also: from 2.7.3 This update fixes a bug in the FTP image upload utility that caused the feature to crash. This update fixes a bug in 2.7.1 that could cause a crash. _____________________________________________________________ *** ALL VER. 2.6.5 USERS!!! *** If your initial RSP installation was version 2.6.5 or you did an update to 2.6.5, it may be installed in a directory that we can no longer use for updates. I recommend that you save most of your settings by doing File / Save Profile. Place the profile in you Documents folder. If you save your data files in a Data subdirectory of the RSP application directory I recommend you relocate that to Documents also.** You should then go to Control Panel and uninstall RSP and any updates to RSP. You will get errors when doing the update un-installs. Ignore them. Now re-install RSP using the full installation version below. You may have to re-enter your name/password if you have the Pro version. To re-aquire most of your settings re-load the profile that we saved at the beginning of this process. Use File / Load Profile and navigate to the Documents folder where you saved it earlier. Go to Options and click Identity. If you see your old info Click Save to make it your defaults. ** The reason for this change in the data location is to satisfy security requirements in Win7 and Win8. _____________________________________________________________ Newest Update as of April 28, 2015 Full Installation is here: http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Install_2_7_1.exe Update (recommended for versions BEFORE 2.6.5): http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_7_1.exe Fixed problem with Append Data Files tool. Removed sound card offset step from Calibration Wizard. Fixed bug in 2.7.0 that keeps asking for reference Y channel. Fixed directory structure to facilitate updates. =============================================== Previous Update 2.7.0 This release adds a new way to scale the chart to best accommodate the chart values in a given range of time (view). In previous versions you could base the Y range on fixed settings or AutoScale the Y axis so that its range was determined by the maximum and minimum values in the entire data file. Now, if you check "Scale Y to View" on the Options/ Strip Chart window, the chart will scale its Y axis to frame the current data visible on the chart, and do so again whenever there is a shift in the time period encompassed by the chart. In other words, when reviewing a chart and you advance to the left or right using the arrow buttons, the Y axis will scale to vertically accommodate only the visible data, (plus a 10% buffer). This new feature may slow scrolling because each advance requires recalculating the new range. If you have a large number of samples visible on the chart, the delay will increase. When collecting live data, the program checks about every 20 seconds to see if the chart needs rescaling. This release fixes some bugs in the Review windows. The Tics and Line options selected for the main window will be applied to Review windows. _____________________________________________________________ Earlier Updates: _____________________________________________________________ 2.6.5 This release has some important updates to the UDS feature. UDS is the Radio-SkyPipe feature which allows you to connect to custom User Data Sources using a simple protocol. This release fixes some UDS related bugs and allows direction connection with UDS enabled devices over a serial connection (before we just had TCP) In this release I have extended the UDS feature to the free version of RSP! Look at the new Blog at http://cygnusa.blogspot.com You can read about using UDS to talk to a Arduino board. Update to Radio-SkyPipe II If you have already installed 2.4.1 or above you can install the update at: http://radiosky.com/skypipe/RSPII_Update_2_6_4.exe This release fixes bugs in the Define Event procedure that caused an error when trying to upload wav files to the new Jove Archive. This release reorders of some parameters when uploading to the Jove Archive. This release has some important updates to the UDS feature. This release includes a new detection mode for sound card inputs. The new mode is Pulse Count mode. This mode counts the number of pulses arriving at the sound card during the sample period. This mode is not exactly the same as the peak frequency** mode which is invoked using a keyword in an Equation. The peak frequecy mode has low resolution at lower frequecies due to the nature of the FFT mechanism. The Pulse Count mode is best used with a square or sine wave on the audio line and can handle pulse rates as low as 10 or 20 pulses/second. The upper range is about 5.5 kilopulses/second. To count pulses simply select Pulse Count as the detection method for a given sound channel under Options / Data Source. Other recent improvements: * Fixes wav cursor synch problem for stereo wav files. * Fixes Event Submitter problem. * Message manager now closes when RSP closes. * Right clicking on Full View produces full X axis but retains the current Y axis setting. ==================================================== Note at the time of this release, the Jove archive is temporarily unavailable. ==================================================== Of special importance is the archive submission tool, called the Event Report Submitter or ERS. This will be of great value to Radio Jove participants who wish to submit data to the Radio Jove Archive. Enhanced editing tools make it easier create and organize important chart and sound snippets. You can also use the ERS to send data to your own website.
